Editing

I have been an editor of books and websites for more than 25 years. I have edited and proofread books for The Mountaineers Books, Sasquatch Books, and individual authors. My experience includes fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. As a technical editor, I worked on websites that serve various target audiences, from novices to developers. At Microsoft, I created and delivered a seminar about writing English copy for an international audience, and co-wrote a best practices guide on how and why to write for a global audience.

Testimonials

  • Christine helped me immeasurably with the early drafts of my book, Paradise Imperfect. From deep developmental feedback to sentence-level edits, all of her suggestions were spot on. She pointed out things that weren’t working, as well as things that were, with exceptional thoughtfulness and insight.

—Margot Page, memoirist and author of the NYT Modern Love essay, “Labels of Married Life, in a New Light.”

  • I was delighted when Christine agreed to critique my manuscript, Upend the Outcome. She accomplished something I had been stewing about: a crisp description of the manuscript’s themes, that I can now articulate concisely. I didn’t incorporate every individual suggestion, but they were provocative enough to take me into the work with fresh curiosity. I feel this process led the manuscript toward the authority, voice, I was seeking.

–Carol Levin, author of a full-length poetry collection and two poetry chapbooks, editorial assistant at Crab Creek Review, and Alexander Technique instructor at The Breathing Lab.

Resources for writers

I was briefly a student in the MLIS program at Simmons University. While I was there, I developed a reference resource for writers.
